Twist, knead, and bake your way to the perfect pretzel under guidance from Rolf Meyer, the owner of the German restaurant, Rolf’s Café & Bistro, in Tuscaloosa.
German soft pretzels trace their roots back to the early Middle Ages. Legend credits Christian monks with inventing the twisted knot to resemble arms folded in prayer or to symbolize the Holy Trinity.
German and Swiss immigrants brought their recipes to North America in the 1700s and 1800s. These immigrants—known as the Pennsylvania Dutch—helped popularize both soft and hard pretzels. Now it is time to try Rolf’s recipe!

His comedy is refreshingly vulnerable, playing with the struggles and stereotypes of being a retired male model and as a European living in the United States.
