US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth welcomed German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Washington, D.C. The meeting focused on developing a roadmap for US security support to Europe and our joint support for Ukraine.

Germany and the US are working together to deliver two Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. Minister Pistorius also announced that Germany intends to purchase the US Typhon weapon system.

At the meeting, Hegseth praised Germany’s increased defense spending: “I think we’ve seen incredible progress inside NATO, with Germany taking the leap on that upfront commitment to spending and to European leadership,” he said.

Pistorius emphasised: ‘Germany and the United States share a long-standing, deep and trusted partnership that strengthens not only our two nations, but also the entire transatlantic alliance.’
