| To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, join the Alabama Holocaust Education Center as we welcome Max Hirshfeld at our 2025 International Holocaust Remembrance Day program. A renowned photographer and son of Holocaust survivors, Hirshfeld will discuss his book “Sweet Noise: Love in Wartime” which chronicles his parent’s experiences in Auschwitz and their remarkable story of love during the Holocaust. Hirshfeld will share photographs of his mother’s first return to Poland after forty-six years along with impressions of growing up under the shadow of the Holocaust, as well as letters his parents wrote to each other during a lengthy, post-war separation.
This event will be held at the Homewood Public Library on January 23rd, 2025, from 6:00-7:30pm. While this event is free, registration is required. Register today.
