Join us for a fun event where you get to taste 5+ German-style beers brewed by dedicated homebrewers. The homebrewers will be competing for bragging rights as the winner of our very first German-style homebrewing competition.
You get to vote for your favorite beer while enjoying a WUNDERBAR German sample platter with tastes of Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Curry Sausage, Frikadelle, Fleischkäse, Bratkartoffeln, Sauerkraut and Traditional Pretzel with Beer cheese dip. German beer and other beverages can be purchased separately. You will also be able to purchase homemade German sausages and other goodies to take home.
All participants get to enter their vote for the “AGP People’s Choice 2022”.
At 1 p.m. an official panel of guest judges will select the “AGP Best in German-Style Homebrew 2022”. Our guest judges represent:

Please note the fee includes beer tasting, a German sample platter, tax, and tips.
If you are a homebrewer and would like to enter the competition, please reach out to our office. German-style beer means ONLY water, hops, malt, and yeast is allowed in the brew. There is NO FEE to enter. Contact us for more information.

We have invited a group of Germans to discuss what they recall and their personal experiences on the events from when the Berlin wall was built in 1961, during the Cold War and after the wall came down in 1989.
Contruction of the Berlin Wall was started in 1961 by the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The wall was a guarded concrete barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989, and cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany.

Join us in Cullman for a visit with the Cullman County Museum that is a replica of the home of the German Col. John G. Cullmann, founder of Cullman. Museum Director, Drew Green, will give us a tour of the museum and talk about the German settlement and the German Christmas Pyramid outside the museum (tallest in the US). After our visit we will see the Christmas Pyramid and walk to the Christkindlmarkt to meet with Judith Caples, owner of A Touch of German. She will talk about her German roots and products in her booth. Then everyone will be able to enjoy the market on their own (about 20 booths and entertainment). You will be able to buy Glühwein and food at the market. Cullman will be light up pretty for the event.

The German American Business Outlook (GABO) has been done annually since 2009 by the German American Chambers of Commerce. They surveyed German subsidiaries in the US to assess current economic developments and trends in transatlantic business. The GABO is one of the most important economic indicators of German American business relations. A short briefing of the report will be presented by Matthias Hoffmann, president & CEO of the German American Chamber of Commerce South.
We will also be joined by the Alabama Department of Commerce’s European Office Director, Christoph Doerr, that will give a short briefing on the German (and European) market in general and their outlook on investing in Alabama.
