Welcome to the Samford University German Conversation Course, which meets on Monday evenings at Russell Hall 119 on Samford University Campus. During the 2018-2019 Academic Year, we will meet 7:00 – 7:55 p.m. (Beginning Group). This course will meet from September 10, 2018 – June 24, 2019.
Please note that we will NOT meet on the following Mondays, because of holidays: October 8 (Fall Break), November 19 (Thanksgiving), December 17 – January 14, 2019 (Christmas/New Year’s Break), March 18 (Spring Break). These dates are also noted on the calendar, which you will have access to once you enroll in the course, as noted below. In addition to the cost of the course materials, the cost to attend the Monday night sessions is $5.00 per class.
Should you be unable to come to class, you will have access to everything we have covered, and will be able to keep up with what we are learning by using the online components of the course. These will also allow you to practice at home, and have access to flashcards and other helpful tools.
Please contact Dr. Ferguson for information and full instructions for online learning material.

Come join us at Opelika’s new Resting Pulse Brewing Company for Beer, Pretzels & Networking:
Thursday, May 30, 2019
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Resting Pulse Brewing Company, Opelika
We are excited to meet at the newly opened local brewery in Opelika. We will learn more about the business, the brewing and sample 4 of their brews and enjoy BIG pretzels. We think that is a perfect setup for good networking. The fee includes sampling and pretzels (plus tax & tips). Come join us!
Everybody who is interested in speaking German in a relaxed setting is welcome here. The point of this group is to meet other German speakers, to chat, to have a drink, to enjoy good times together. All levels of language proficiency are welcome, no need to be an expert, you don’t have to be a native German. Partners and kids are welcome, too.
Please note you need to join the MeetUp group in order to sign up for the group and its activities.

First Presbyterian Deutsch
German Worship Services are led by Reverend Thomas Herwig, parish associate on the first Sunday of each month, unless otherwise indicated, at 11:00 a.m. in the Westervelt-Warner Chapel. An informal gathering with coffee and cookies follows each service.
About
Begun in December 2008, First Presbyterian Deutsch is a project not only for Germans, but also for those who speak and understand German, or who are simply interested in German culture and language.
In addition to worship, First Presbyterian Deutsch offers all pastoral duties including confirmation classes, pastoral care and hospital visitation, German-speaking children’s afternoons, topical discussion groups including Bible study groups and social and cultural activities.
Everyone is invited to take part in the planning Workgroup, which normally meets the Tuesday evening following a worship service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
If you would like to be informed about further events with an email or a postcard, please contact the church office at (205) 752-3531.
