This is a great opportunity for German expats to meet and for other German-speaking/practicing to improve their German. Speaking German is encouraged but not required. We meet every first Wednesday of the month.

Carrigan’s Beer Garden has a great selection of beverages and food for purchase. Family, kids, and dogs are allowed. 

What does “Stammtisch” mean? A Stammtisch is an informal group meeting held on a regular basis, and also the usually large table around which the group meets. A Stammtisch is not a structured meeting, but rather a friendly and casual get-together.

Please make sure to register so we can reserve seats for all.

Drew is the director of the Cullman County Museum and an officer in the Friends of Frankweiler Club. We will talk about the rich German heritage in Cullman, including the German founder of the town. Drew will also tell us about the organization “Friend of Frankweiler” and last but not least, what is the largest German Weihnacht Pyramide (the Christmas Pyramid) in the U.S. doing in Cullman?

Join them for a social hour at Pelham’s newly opened brewery.
The Oak Mountain Brewing Company (OMBC) has a 15-barrel brewhouse with a variety of fermentation tanks. OMBC is striving to create great, quality accessible beers while cultivating an authentic atmosphere for beer-lovers to gather. They are home to classic flavors, as well as experimentally fun beers. Come out to socialize and network. 
Drinks and food are available for purchase. 
The Young Professionals group is under the AlabamaGermany Partnership umbrella. Its members are interns, co-op or employees of either an Alabama-Germany company or institution. The age requirement is 21 to 39. This also includes college students, grad students studying German language, international business, science, and engineering. The group will promote international education, individual career development and promotion of Alabama-German companies and workforce development. The Barbara Fischer Education Award will be presented to Anja Werth of Auburn University by Dr. Traci O’Brien, Auburn University & AGP Board, and Executive Committee Member at the Stammtisch. This award is presented to someone who has contributed significantly to the advancement of the Alabama-Germany relationship in the areas of education and culture and to the vision of the AlabamaGermany Partnership.

They will be joined by Kathy Deck, Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama. An economist by training, her research interests include regional economic development, industry market structure, and higher education economics. 
 
Kathy will be speaking on “The Great Economic Reset of 2021” which will cover the real GDP growth since the end of the great recession and discuss the current conditions of the manufacturing and financial markets. She will also cover household debt (mortgages & student loans), and the current U.S., Alabama, and Tuscaloosa Employment by Sector.
