First Presbyterian Deutsch
German Worship Services are led by Reverend Thomas Herwig, parish associate on the first Sunday of each month, unless otherwise indicated, at 11:00 a.m. in the Westervelt-Warner Chapel. An informal gathering with coffee and cookies follows each service.
About
Begun in December 2008, First Presbyterian Deutsch is a project not only for Germans, but also for those who speak and understand German, or who are simply interested in German culture and language.
In addition to worship, First Presbyterian Deutsch offers all pastoral duties including confirmation classes, pastoral care and hospital visitation, German-speaking children’s afternoons, topical discussion groups including Bible study groups and social and cultural activities.
Everyone is invited to take part in the planning Workgroup, which normally meets the Tuesday evening following a worship service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.

- Geschnetzeltes Pork tips with onions and mushrooms, served over spätzle
- Authentic German Bratwurst and Polish Sausage with curry ketchup and German mustard

- Pan-Fried potatoes
- Blueberry Cheesecake or Black Forest Cake

Menu 2:
- Creamy Cucumber Salad or Cucumber Vinaigrette Salad
- Assorted Bread Basket (Southern yeast rolls, German orange rolls, German Dark Rye)
- Hildegard’s Sampler: Chicken schnitzel, Kassler Rippchen (smoked, cured pork chop), and authentic German bierbrat
- Red Cabbage
- Käsespätzle Spätzle with fried onions, smoked Gouda/Emmenthal/Swiss cheese
- Blueberry Cheesecake or Black Forest Cake
- Soda/Tea/Water
Please note that there is limited space of 12 guests for this event. This meal is priced at $35 per person plus tax and gratuity (includes non-alcoholic beverage). Beer and wine is sold separately. You must preregister for this event.
