German automotive supplier, WKW North America LLC, is planning 140 layoffs in Pell City starting next month.
WKW North America manufactures aluminum trim and functional components and roof railing systems for automotive customers and has a longstanding local history.
In recent years WKW has had as many as 487 local employees, according to a BBJ list of the largest local manufacturers compiled using data from 2022. The company has been in Pell City since 2006, according to previous BBJ reporting, and
moved forward with a $5 million expansion of that facility in 2015.
WKW Group is a global automotive supplier. It has production sites and agencies in Europe, Africa, and North America. Its other U.S. locations are in Portage and Troy, Michigan.
